Installing Integrated Extraction: What Your Builder Needs to Know

Installing Integrated Extraction: What Your Builder Needs to Know

A practical guide to the electrical, ventilation and cabinetry requirements for BORA and other integrated extraction systems.

Installing an integrated extraction system like BORA requires more planning than a standard hob installation. Here's what your builder, electrician, and kitchen installer need to know.

    Electrical Requirements

Most BORA systems require a dedicated 32A electrical circuit. This should be planned at the first-fix electrical stage, not retrofitted. Ensure your electrician has the specific model's installation manual before commencing work.

    Ventilation & Ducting

You have two options: recirculation (air is filtered and returned to the room) or exhaust (air is ducted outside). Recirculation requires a charcoal filter system; exhaust requires a duct run to an external wall. Both need to be planned before cabinetry is finalised.

    Cabinet Configuration

The extraction motor and filter housing sit in the cabinet below the cooktop. This cabinet needs to be specifically designed to accommodate the unit — standard off-the-shelf cabinets won't work. At Savvy Kitchens, we design the cabinetry around the appliance specification.
